Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet spoke with Cuban leaders to celebrate the cooperative relationship between the two countries

[INNEWS Comprehensive Report] On the evening of September 9, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet had a cordial telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, to discuss the possibility of a more active cooperative relationship between the two countries.

During this historic phone call, the President of Cuba expressed deep congratulations to Prime Minister Hun Manet and thanked him for receiving strong support from the people and Congress for successfully serving as the new Prime Minister of Cambodia.

At the same time, he also congratulated the Cambodian People’s Party on its overwhelming victory in the seventh parliamentary election on July 23, 2023.

The Cuban president reiterated that Cuba is committed to continuing its excellent cooperation with Cambodia and supporting each other in multilateral forums, building on long-standing historical relations. He mentioned that during former Prime Minister Hun Sen’s official visit to Cuba in September 2022, the two countries signed a series of memorandums of understanding on cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, education and sports. The signing of these memorandums was seen as promoting the cooperation between the two countries. an important milestone in bilateral relations.

For the initiative of this call, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his deep gratitude and conveyed the cordial greetings of Hun Sen, Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council of the King of Cambodia, to the Cuban President. He especially thanked Cuba for its support and help during Cambodia’s most difficult period, especially after getting rid of the Khmer Rouge regime, which truly reflects the strong and united relationship between the two countries and their peoples.

Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated at the meeting the importance of continuing and strengthening good cooperation in existing areas, as well as further expanding cooperation in other potential areas. In this regard, he supported and encouraged the two foreign ministries to hold the third political consultation in the near future to promote the efficient implementation of the signed memorandum of understanding and agreements.

At the end of the call, the Cuban President warmly invited Hun Manet to pay an official visit to Cuba at an appropriate time. Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his gratitude and emphasized that Cuba is one of the countries he intends to visit.
