Cambodia’s Chinese Style Reveals Again—National Museum Holds Chinese Painting Art Exhibition

[INNEWS Comprehensive Report] Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Art of Cambodia and the China National Academy of Painting jointly launched the “Art China – Exhibition of Excellent Works of the China National Academy of Painting” at the National Museum of Cambodia.

Pen Monimakara, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Arts of Cambodia, Chhay Visoth, Director of the National Museum of Cambodia, Yu Wenjiang, Vice President of the National Academy of Painting of China, and the delegation attended the opening ceremony.

It is understood that this exhibition will be exhibited from September 4 to 11, 2023, displaying representative works of 20 artists from the China National Academy of Painting. Chang Weisuo, Director of the National Museum of Cambodia, said that they are very honored to hold the “Art China – Exhibition of Excellent Works of the Chinese National Academy of Painting”, which is also part of this year’s cultural exchange activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China. This exhibition will help to enhance the cultural and artistic relationship between Cambodia and China, and promote exchanges between artists of the two countries.

Chinese pictorial art depicts the long cultural and historical ties and trade relations between Cambodia and China.

Pen Monimakara, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Arts of Cambodia, said that he hopes that through this exhibition, the Cambodian people will have a deeper understanding of China’s long culture and civilization, and it will also provide opportunities for knowledge exchange and experience sharing of Chinese painting techniques.

She took this opportunity to thank the Chinese government for its long-term selfless assistance and strong support to Cambodia, especially in aspects such as heritage restoration and cultural development. These help have enabled Cambodian culture and art to shine on the world stage. This exhibition has undoubtedly opened a new chapter for the cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Cambodia.
