In the first seven months of this year, more than 310,000 Chinese visited Cambodia​


[INNEWS Comprehensive Report] On August 16, the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism reported that in the first seven months of 2023, Cambodia received an astonishing 3,037,344 international tourists, an increase of 308.5% compared with the same period last year. The rapid growth of this figure shows the strong recovery of Cambodia’s tourism market.

The number of international tourists entering by air reached 1,065,233, a year-on-year increase of 236.8%, while the number of tourists entering by land and water was as high as 1,972,111, a year-on-year increase of 361.7%. This shows that more and more tourists choose to enter Cambodia in different ways.

Among the major international tourist markets, Thailand received the most tourists with 1,028,020 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 331.2%, followed by Vietnam with 551,156 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 190.4%. In addition, the number of Chinese tourists also showed a rapid growth trend, reaching 318,498, a year-on-year increase of 668.9%.

At the same time, the report also mentioned the outbound tourism of Cambodian citizens. The cumulative number of outbound tourists reached 1,009,073, a year-on-year increase of 243.6%. This data shows the enthusiasm of the Cambodian people for tourism and the prosperity of the outbound tourism market.

Cambodian Minister of Tourism Thong Khon said that in 2023, Cambodia is expected to receive more than 5 million international tourists. This forecast shows Cambodia’s confidence and expectation for the tourism industry. It is believed that as the global epidemic gradually subsides, the tourism industry will continue to prosper.
