On December 14, Pen Bona, spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia, clarified this.

Pen bona responded in a statement that the leaders of Vietnam’s Vingroup did express their willingness to open an electric taxi service in Cambodia, but Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet did not give any in-principle approval. Some media reported that the company plans to launch 2,500 electric taxi services in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap provinces, but this information has not been officially confirmed, leading to public misunderstanding.

It is understood that on December 13, Vietnam Vingroup proposed a plan to launch 2,500 electric taxi services in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap province when meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet.
