The summit will discuss the economy of the Mekong River region through meetings with leaders of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries, promote economic integration in the region and the world, and create a business environment conducive to Cambodia’s economic growth.
Tassilo BRINZER said that the ASEAN-Cambodia Investment Summit is a forum to promote Cambodia’s potential to foreign investors, especially companies that are investing in Southeast Asia to understand Cambodia’s investment environment. In the past, the EU invested more in neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore, but European companies still invested less in Cambodia. Therefore, through this forum it will be shown to European investors that Cambodia can also be a good choice for investment in the region. There are currently only about 250 European companies investing in Cambodia, which is a very small number.
Martin Brisson, executive director of the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, said that the forum will include EU businessmen, European investors investing in Cambodia, representatives of ASEAN countries, representatives of the Cambodian government, etc. More than 200 entrepreneurs, including local companies, will attend the summit. During the summit, the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia will release two important documents emphasizing Cambodia’s investment environment: including the “2024 White Paper” and the “2023 Business Confidence Survey”, by allowing Cambodian business leaders to make a clear understanding of Cambodia’s investment and business environment. describe.
Matthew Pococ, business services coordinator at the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, said the upcoming white paper will contain 78 recommendations and comments on activities and challenges faced by European investors in Cambodia to provide solutions. This book has 13 chapters in total, focusing on 13 areas in Cambodia.
The European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia will sign a memorandum of understanding with AHK Vietnam on September 29. The memorandum will help German companies in Vietnam expand investment in Cambodia.
Cristina Novio-Garcia, trade, private sector and energy manager of the EU Delegation to Cambodia, said the two-day event will promote closer relations between the EU and ASEAN and expand European investment in ASEAN.
It is reported that Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy Aun Pornmoniroth and Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul will attend the ASEAN-Cambodia Investment Summit.
