Many provinces in Cambodia will hold dragon boat racing events to celebrate the traditional water festival

[INNEWS Comprehensive Report] Recently, many provinces in Cambodia have announced that they will hold dragon boat races to warmly celebrate the traditional Cambodian festival-Water Festival. This annual event is not only a contest of strength, but also a show of love and respect for traditional culture.

It is understood that Kandal Province will take the lead in kicking off the dragon boat racing event in Takhmao on October 29. Subsequently, Prey Veng, Battambang and Kampong Thom provinces will host the event from October 28 to 29. Kampot province will host it from November 10 to 11; Kampong Speu and Svay Rieng provinces from November 18 to 19; and Siem Reap province from November 26 to 27.

In addition to the fierce dragon boat racing, this year’s dragon boat racing event will also include a series of colorful cultural activities, such as concerts, fireworks shows, lantern boat parades and exhibitions. These events are designed to bring a visual and auditory feast to the audience.

It is worth mentioning that the Water Delivery Festival in 2023 will fall on November 26th to 28th.

Previously, due to the impact of the epidemic, the Cambodian government announced the cancellation of the Water Festival celebrations in 2020 and 2021. Last year, because Cambodia hosted the ASEAN Summit, the celebration of the Water Festival was also suspended. This year, Cambodia will hold it on a grand scale.
