Russian media: 3 airports in Moscow closed, banning flights from entering and leaving


Three Moscow airports were closed for unknown reasons. At present, Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports have begun to resume flights in and out, but Vnukovo airport remains closed.

According to a report by the TASS news agency on August 22, Moscow’s Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports were closed, flights were prohibited from entering and leaving, and the departure time of all flights was postponed. The reason for the airport closure is not yet clear.

According to airport sources, some flights were diverted to other cities, and another was diverted to Moscow Zhukovsky International Airport.

Subsequently, Moscow’s aviation department told TASS that Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports had begun to resume flights in and out after the temporary closure, but Vnukovo airport remained closed.
