[INNEWS Comprehensive Report] On October 11, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with the visiting Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.

During this meeting, both parties expressed their high appreciation for the results of each other’s cooperation and hoped to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Hun Manet warmly welcomed the visit of Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and pointed out that the results of past cooperation between the two countries are remarkable. He emphasized that although Cambodia has changed to a new government, its foreign policy, especially Cambodia-Pakistan relations, remains unchanged.

Mauro Vieira congratulated Prime Minister Hun Manet and his new government on taking office, and reiterated his desire to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, education, health and cultural exchanges. He thanked Cambodia for its support to Brazil in becoming Phnom Penh’s ASEAN sectoral dialogue partner during its tenure as the ASEAN Chair in 2022.

Hun Manet supports Brazil’s decision to open an embassy in Cambodia and said that Brazil plans to open its own embassy in the capital, Phnom Penh, in 2024, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Brazil.

He stressed that both sides agreed to expand cooperation in areas such as tourism, agriculture and people-to-people exchanges, and discussed some issues of common concern.

It is understood that Mauro Vieira also invited Hun Manet to visit Brazil. Hun Manet readily accepted the invitation and expressed his intention to invite the Brazilian President to visit Cambodia, especially as 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Brazil and the opening of the Brazilian Embassy in Cambodia. time.
