SOK Soken expressed the hope that the Airport Group can continue to promote Cambodia’s tourist destinations to the European market and contribute to attracting more international tourists. The talks also aim to establish public-private partnerships to further develop Cambodia’s tourism industry.
SOK Soken emphasized that he will maintain a good cooperative relationship with the airport group and use its global experience to strengthen Cambodia’s flight connections with the world. This move is in line with the Ministry of Tourism’s strategic direction of adding 5 and developing 3 (BUILD + 3Ds).
Emmanuel Menanteau, regional director of France’s Vinci Airports Group, said that even during the COVID-19 epidemic, the airport will continue to fulfill its mission and promises to continue promoting Cambodia to more French and European markets. In addition, Soong Sokken and Emmanuel Menanteau are jointly committed to further strengthening cooperation to enhance the tourism competitiveness, sustainable tourism and tourism environment of the Cambodian tourism sector.
It is worth mentioning that in the first eight months of 2023, Cambodia received more than 3.5 million international tourists, a year-on-year increase of 250.8%, while the number of domestic tourists was 12.38 million, a year-on-year increase of 62.5%. Cambodia is expected to receive more than 5 million international tourists in 2023.
