The Cambodian Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications holds talks with the EU-ASEAN Business Council to seek to strengthen business cooperation and investment​

[INNEWS Comprehensive Report] On October 25, Chea Vandeth, Cambodian Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, held working talks with Jens Ruebbert, Chairman of the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC). The goal of the talks is to promote business cooperation between the EU and Cambodia’s private and public sectors to support Cambodia’s socio-economic development.

Chea Vandeth warmly welcomed the delegation of major EU businesses led by Jens Ruebbert and expressed their interest in finding investment opportunities in the postal, telecommunications and digital technology sectors and expanding existing investments in Cambodia. EU-ASEAN Business Council Chairman Lui Bot expressed his gratitude to Xiewandi for arranging this working meeting and hoped that the two institutions can continue to deepen cooperation in the future.

During the meeting, representatives from Zuellig Pharma, DHL and the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia actively inquired about relevant strategic actions, focusing on supporting the private sector and the health sector related to digitalization, as well as the ministry’s work directions related to the use of 5G.

Chea Vandeth briefed on the ministry’s progress in policy development, including legal and regulatory adoption scholarship program, digital skills development program, community technology centres, digital capture promotion, competition development, national database development, digital connectivity infrastructure, telecommunications service quality improvement etc., and formulated a 5G technology roadmap in line with the development stage of the telecommunications industry.

Chea Vandeth encouraged the EU-ASEAN Business Council and the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia delegation to play their role in promoting and strengthening additional investments in Cambodia.
